How do credits work?

You buy credit packs through Paddle's secure checkout — Paddle.com is our Merchant of Record and the seller on your receipt. Credits sit in your wallet. Runtime costs 5 credits per GB of RAM per hour, deducted in 60-second intervals while the server is running. Stopped servers cost nothing to run.

What happens when I run out of credits?

We send email warnings as your balance approaches zero. If you do hit zero, your servers are snapshotted to backup and stopped. Top up and you're back online with one click.

Can I get a refund on unused credits?

Accepted Answer

Yes — within 14 days of purchase, write to support@voxelrun.com and we'll refund unused credits to the same payment method.

Are taxes included in the prices shown?

Accepted Answer

All prices include VAT where applicable. Paddle, our Merchant of Record, collects and remits the tax and issues your tax invoice — the price you see is the price you pay.

Can a busy month cost more than flat-rate hosting?

Accepted Answer

No — that's the point of the monthly cost cap. Once a server's compute spend reaches its monthly cap (deliberately set below what always-on would cost), running it is free until the month ends. Storage above the free 10 GB still bills normally. Pay-per-use, never more than a flat-rate host.

How fast does a server actually start?

Well under a minute, at every size. There's no queue and no machine to provision — the server image already sits on the machine's NVMe, so starting your world is just starting a process. A clean vanilla world is joinable in about half a minute. The very first launch of a big modpack takes longer while it installs itself; every launch after that is fast.

Can I install mods, plugins, modpacks?

Yes. The web file manager lets you upload anything; the underlying image (itzg/minecraft-server) supports Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Fabric, Forge, Bedrock, plus auto-installer modpacks (CurseForge, Modrinth).

Can I change the server type later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Minecraft server type is a setting on the server, not a separate product. Change it, restart, done.

What happens to my world when I stop the server?

Accepted Answer

It stays on its own disk, which survives a stop. The first 10 GB of storage are free; only space above that keeps billing (€0.10/GB/month) while the server is off. Start it again and it's exactly as you left it.

Are backups really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Export your world to Hetzner Object Storage any time — one click, the zip is kept for 30 days, no extra charge. If your balance ever hits zero we also take one final snapshot before stopping the server, so nothing is lost.

Can I leave with my data?

Always. Download your world as a zip and run it anywhere — local PC, another host, your basement server.

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Your live world sits on NVMe storage on our own machine in the EU. Your backups go to Hetzner Object Storage in Falkenstein, Germany. All within EU jurisdiction.

Whose hardware does VoxelRun actually run on?

Accepted Answer

Our own. Game servers run on a dedicated AMD Ryzen 9 bare-metal machine with NVMe storage in an EU datacenter — not on resold cloud VMs. Backups live separately on Hetzner Object Storage in Germany, and DNS with DDoS protection is handled by Cloudflare — the same names you'll find in our legal sub-processor list, so what we advertise is what the paperwork says.

How is the network protected against DDoS attacks?

In layers. Web traffic — the panel, the site, and the free HTTPS map subdomains — goes through Cloudflare's DDoS protection. Game traffic is covered by network-level filtering in the datacenter, and we can null-route abusive traffic if an attack targets a specific server. DDoS protection is included for every server; we don't sell it as an add-on.

Is my server isolated from other customers' servers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every game server runs in its own hardened container with its own CPU share, memory limit, process and file limits, and a per-server disk quota. A crashed, overloaded, or misbehaving neighbour can't take your server down or read your files.
